WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?

Good question. This is an interactive fiction game written in Inform, so it doesn't work quite like a regular program. You need a Z-machine interpreter to play it, kinda like how you need a NES to play your copy of Konami's seminal run 'n' gun Contra. Two such interpreters have been included with this release, one for Windows and one for Mac. There are many others; if these aren't to your liking. Check out

HOW DO I PLAY SAID MADNESS?

What you do is type in the command you want your player to perform. For example, this game uses compass directions; if you wish to travel north to your next destination, type >NORTH when the prompt (that's >) shows up. There's loads of actions you can perform, here's a small sampling (not from this game):

>TAKE LOAF
>READ CHARTER
>TALK TO GIRL
>PUT RUBBER TOY IN HOLE

Generally, it's best to be as concise as possible.

Of course, typing >HELP in the prompt first thing will reveal an incredibly helpful menu written by someone much smarter than me which will surely aid you to a greater extent then I ever could. Especially when I'm writting this as quickly as possible before the deadline...

I HAVE A COMMENT/BUG REPORT! ALSO, MADNESS!

For now it's best to comment in the thread for this game at

After the competition though, please email me (email at the top of this document) as so not to clog up the forum. Not that anyone will play this after the comp.

I hope.
